Advocacy

Contact Advocacy

We’re here to help Swinburne students. If our self-help materials do not contain the information you need, feel free to talk to us – appointments are available Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm AEST.

Talking to an advocacy officer is free, independent, and confidential.

I would like to follow up with advocacy about an open case

If you need to contact us regarding an open case, you can email advocacy@swin.edu.au Please note that we prioritise urgent cases, such as unexpected sensitive matters or issues involving Swinburne deadlines; as such, there may be delays in providing updates about your case. Rest assured that we will provide you with an update as soon as we can.

This is my first time contacting Advocacy about an issue

Book an appointment with an advocacy officer. After we receive your request and will email you within 24 business hours to confirm your appointment. The form asks for your information, details of your issue, your preferred contact method and appointment time, and allows you to attach documents that you want us to review. We use the information provided in the form to learn about you and understand your issue. This helps us review the situation prior to meeting with you so that we’re prepared and ready to offer appropriate advice and information.

SSA Advocates are here to help.

University life can sometimes be challenging, and many students face issues or difficulties along the way. SSA Advocacy Service (SAS) provides access to qualified and experienced Advocates who offer confidential advice and support for Swinburne students regarding university policy, procedure, and academic matters.

When you access the service, an Advocate will collaborate with you to understand your situation and explore feasible options. Advocates can support you in preparing responses to relevant faculties or departments, review draft communications, and accompany you to meetings or hearings.

SAS is an independent service. Students who use this service have a range of rights and responsibilities to ensure the best possible support.

Academic Integrity

At SAS, we understand that academic integrity allegations can be distressing and confusing. Our team of experienced Advocates is here to guide you through each step of the process, offering free support to Swinburne students facing academic integrity concerns. We are committed to helping you navigate the procedures and understand your options.
