Get Involved
This is our community — help shape it.
At SSA, you’re not just along for the ride. Whether you want to volunteer, work with us, or partner on something cool, there’s always a way to jump in and make a difference.
Your Voice, Your Say
At SSA, students don’t just have a say — they run the show. From the services we deliver to the events we run, it’s all shaped by current Swinburne students through the SSA Board of Directors and the Swinburne Student Council (SSC). Your representatives are students just like you, elected to make sure SSA is always student-first, student-focused, and student-powered.
We are SSA — the Swinburne Student Association. 100% student-run, student-led, and funded by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
We are here to make your time at Swinburne easier, more fun, and full of good stuff you actually care about.
Whether you are figuring out where the Library is in Week 1 or grinding through your final project, we’ve got your back with support, free food, fun events, and services that make Swinburne life better.

What’s the difference between SSA and University Representatives?
What’s the Difference Between SSA and University Representatives?
Great question!
-
The SSA Board and Swinburne Student Council (SSC) are independent and entirely student-run. We focus on enhancing student life through services, events, advocacy, and support — by students, for students.
-
University student representatives (such as those on the Academic Senate, School Academic Committees etc.) are elected through university-managed processes and are involved in formal governance and policy discussions within Swinburne. For more information about university student representatives, please go to the Swinburne website by clicking here.

While SSA works collaboratively with the university, we remain independent. This means we can focus solely on what matters to you — and speak up to hold the university accountable when necessary.
