Rubric FAQ
We’ve launched our new Clubs platform at Swinburne – Rubric.
All Swinburne students are eligible to sign up to an SSA Club at Swinburne. We support over 70 clubs across our campuses to empower students to deliver student-led events and experiences across areas including academic, political, cultural, social, spiritual and sports.
We know that SSA Clubs play a vital role in supporting skills and leadership development from organising and delivering events to managing budgets and beyond. Our clubs help to enrich the student experience at Swinburne and we’re immensely proud of the network we’ve built with over 7,500 members registered across our clubs network.
Our platform is now live. To support this launch, we’re providing you with information about our platform and what it means for you and your club.

Frequently asked questions
Rubric is an online platform that makes it easier for students to join, manage, and engage clubs and societies. It helps clubs run smoothly by handling event check-ins, forms, elections, and communications – so you don’t miss out on what’s happening.
As a student, you can browse clubs, vote in elections, receive updates by SMS or email, and participate in events all through the Rubric system. There’s no need to create a new account – just log in with your student email.
We have transitioned from Unione to Rubric to improve the overall experience for club executives and members. Rubric offers a more modern, user-friendly, and efficient platform that better supports the growing needs of our clubs community.
The new system:
Provides real-time access to club finances, resources, and submissions
Streamlines event approvals, funding applications, and reporting
Enhances file storage and sharing with centralised club management tools
Supports faster communication and improved visibility across club activities
This change is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the clubs experience and ensuring you have the best tools to run successful and engaging clubs at Swinburne.

Unione was officially decommissioned on 18 July. All relevant club data, including your club’s files, documents, and submission history, were securely migrated to the new Rubric platform. After that date, Unione is no longer accessible.
To log in:
Go to the Rubric link provided by SSA.
Click “Sign In”.
Use your university student email address to log in.
Follow the prompts to verify your identity.
Yes! If you’re an associate member (e.g., alumni, or community member), you can still access Rubric using guest login.
Unlike enrolled students who log in via their university Single Sign-On (SSO), associate members can simply sign up using a personal email address.
Your go-to spot for all clubs and sports related resources and support materials is now accessible in two key places:
SSA Website – Visit the Clubs & Societies page for general information, guides, and important updates.
Rubric – Club executives log in and access information, specific files, documents, and resources under the ‘Club Files’ section.
A new and improved Clubs Handbook is also made available on both platforms to support you in managing and growing a successful club.
There are no changes to funding for Semester 2. However, during the transition period:
18th July – 28th July: All funding requests (including major grants) will be processed through a temporary Microsoft Form.
From 29th July onward: All funding and grant submissions will be managed directly through Rubric.
We’re here to help during this changeover and provide guidance on how to use the new system.
Yes! Rubric introduces a new Funds Manager tool, where club executives can:
View real-time account balances
Track spent grant amounts
Monitor transaction histories
It’s designed to work like online banking – clear, intuitive, and transparent.
Rubric makes it easy for clubs to sell merchandise online and at events. Each club can set up an online store where you can browse and purchase items like hoodies, shirts, or accessories.
You can:
View available stock and sizes
Pay securely online
Choose delivery or pick-up at an event
Clubs can also offer pre-orders, so students can reserve items before they’re made. Digital receipts are sent to their email, and they can track their orders through the Rubric platform.
If you’re a club exec, you can also use Rubric to manage inventory, track orders, issue refunds, and offer discounts or bundles (e.g., merch + membership).
Access is provided through your usual Swinburne Single Sign-On (SSO) login.
If you are a registered club executive, you will be automatically granted access to your club’s backend area within Rubric.
The experience is similar to Unione, with easier navigation and improved features.
All club payments and ticketing are now processed through Stripe, integrated within the Rubric platform.
The good news is that SSA absorbs all ticketing and processing fees, meaning clubs receive 100% of the revenue from any tickets or payments collected through Rubric.
This change makes it easier for clubs to manage paid events without worrying about additional costs or complicated payment setups.
Yes! All files currently stored in Unione as of 18 July are migrated to Rubric. Once on Rubric, your club also has access to a Club File Management Page where you can upload and organise new documents, forms, photos, and more.
