Join us for the Swinburne Avurudu & Puthandu New Year Festival, a vibrant celebration of Sri Lankan and Tamil New Year at the Swinburne Hawthorn campus! This exciting event will showcase the rich traditions, culture, and heritage of our communities through a night filled with joy, celebration, and Baila and Kuthu songs!
Experience traditional games and activities, a ceremonial showcase featuring incredible performances and talent from the community, and an authentic culinary feast with a large buffet and live Kothu. Food will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early to indulge in the delicious flavors of our shared heritage.
It is encouraged to come dressed in traditional clothing, with opportunities to showcase your best fits, participate in fun competitions, and even have the chance to be crowned Kumari & Kumaraya (King & Queen) of the event!
